Day trips from Vienna

Our tips for spring

Spring allows for many activities and considering the pleasant spring weather, day trips are a perfect idea. We have compiled a few day trip destinations for you which you can easily reach from Vienna in a short amount of time.

When the first flower buds and snowdrops stretch towards the sun, the days get longer, the temperatures rise, and nothing looks more inviting for a picnic than the green meadows, it is finally spring. Finally, you can walk through the park again in open shoes or enjoy a cappuccino in the sunshine in one of the many Schanigärten.

Day trips to Graz

By train, you are in the second largest city of Austria within 2.5 hours. Either on foot, free of charge with the Altstadtbim or quite conveniently in the Cabriobus you can explore the Altstadt of Graz. Which belongs to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. The excursion is particularly pleasant when you book one of the culinary tours. Here you can explore Graz like a local with culinary delights. For a wonderful overview of Graz, we recommend the Schlossberg. Either you can take the almost 300 steps from the Schlossbergplatz to the Uhrturm, or you can take the Schlossbergbahn up to the top within a few minutes and enjoy the panorama view. If you have had enough of the sightseeing, you can enjoy some extensive shopping in the Franziskanerviertel, the Herrengasse or around the Hauptplatz. A particular highlight is the Kastner & Öhler department store with its 6 floors and more than 500 international brands. On the roof terrace on the 6th floor you can end the day with a small snack and a beautiful view over the roofs of Graz.

One day in Salzburg

The birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus is especially inviting for romantics with its romantic rose gardens and alleys in the Altstadt, rounded off with a magnificent mountain panorama in the background. Salzburg has also been an UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997 and can be reached by train within 2 hours 15 minutes. Apart from Mozart's birthplace and residence, there is plenty to discover in Salzburg. If you just want to relax and go for a walk, Schloss Hellbrunn in the south of Salzburg is perfect. The trick fountain is particularly worth seeing and a unique experience. In the Stiegl-Brauwelt Museum you can immerse yourself in the world of beer and as a special highlight you can admire the exhibition of all Austrian bottle beers in the Bierturm. For a more interactive museum visit for the whole family, the Toy Museum is a good choice. Here you will find, in addition to historical toys, a slide from the second to the first floor, a reading corner, a Carrera track, a marble track and much more.
